Lacustre Tourism
The Lake of Lesina has a perimeter of 50km and a depth of only two meters. It is divided from the sea by a dune called Bosco Isola, 27 km long and 1 km thick.
It is in communication with the Adriatic Sea through two channels, called the Schiapparo and the Aquarotta.
Lake of Lesina is the second largest lake in southern Italy and the ninth-largest in all of Italy.
Walking along the shore and in the surroundings, it is possible to smell the scent of the Mediterranean scrub: holm oaks, junipers, various types of shrubs, rosemary and heather.
The fauna is also very rich and diverse.
The waters are populated by eels and capitons and are flown over by herons and flamingos. The Lake of Lesina Nature Reserve was established in 1981 to encourage the repopulation of the fauna. Inside there is also the “Lesina Lagoon” Visitors Center, a reference point for information and starting point for excursions.
